Tell me a little bit about yourself:
– I am a Resident Director by day, but an author and motivational speaker around the clock. On the public platform, I am known as Tasha W: The Messenger of Hope. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Education. I apply my educational background and life experiences to help women explore the power of fearlessness and embrace the life they’ve always imagined. Royalty Refined hosts an annual conference in September where we focus on addressing the issues in the lives of women that are often hidden, particularly areas such as self-worth and body image. The Royalty Refined team consists of myself and 3 other members. In April of this year, I became a member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau to help raise public awareness regarding the effects of sexual violence.
Q: What makes you want to inspire and empower women?
-There was a time in my life where I questioned my identity, my worth and my existence. I allowed my past to serve as a measuring tool to justify my worth. Knowing firsthand the feelings of rejection, hopelessness and the cycle of diminishing my value, I vowed to reach out and give back to those who may currently experience the things I overcame.
Q: How do you inspire women and young girls?
-I am the founder of Royalty Refined, a community-based organization whose purpose is devoted to helping young women to discover and affirm the treasure that’s within while walking into their God-given destiny. I also publicly share my story of being a sexual assault survivor on various platforms.
Q. What is something that you would tell your younger self?
-Don’t allow fear to restrict the greatness that’s inside of you. You’ll never know how much you can achieve until you try.
