Yes, you read that right. After running the hugely successful book drive #1000BlackGirlBooks she was invited to create her own online publication Marley’s Mag for Elle.com.
The goal of the campaign, which launched in NOV 2015, was to was to donate 1,000 books to whereas black girls were the main characters. Marley insisted that this was a key important factor because while loving to read at a young age is a thing she definitely knew her peers would be glad to read books with girls that looked like them.
While on her mission she managed to have collected more than 7,000 books!
This eventually led to Marley being interviewed on The Ellen Show and having met Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama.
