-Alieshia N

Hello, my name is Jam’era I  am an Alum from Gwynedd Mercy University. I have a B.S. in Psychology. I am passionate about Higher Education and Student Affairs and I enjoy helping people. I have over 5+ years of experience working in healthcare as well. I am a writer and creative at heart. I enjoy traveling learning things from others. I am passionate about social justice issues as well. I have professional experience working in Residence Life as an Area Coordinator. However, I will be pursuing my graduate degree this fall. I invite positive vibes and good energy.

How do you inspire and empower other women?

– I am very active on my FB, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts. I use my platforms to spread positivity and I encourage other women and people in general through my testimonies that I share. I encourage women to step out on faith and follow their dreams. I inspire women to want to be a better version of themselves, by being open about my struggles along my journey. I have also been natural for eight years, so I encourage women to embrace their hair and I promote self-care. I am a writer, so occasionally I will share some of my poems/writing on my platform to encourage and be a source of inspiration for others.

What made you want to empower and inspire women?

– I am from a small town called Coatesville, PA. Growing up in Coatesville had its pros and cons like any other place. There were several community activities and workshops that were offered to the youth, and I was blessed to be active in my community. I was a part of something that was bigger than myself, and that is what sparked my passion to empower and inspire women. Growing up I read several books by Maya Angelou, Sista Soulja etc. And those resilient women were a reminder that I could be whatever I wanted. I knew that I could be a source of strength and inspiration for other women just like they were for me.

What would you say to your younger self?

– Dear Younger Self,

You are so beautiful! You are so bold! You are so brave! I admire your perseverance. I can not believe that we made it this far, but we did by GODs grace and because you were strong. You pushed through doors that people said would never open. You’ve been in positions without being qualified. You have always been optimistic and seen the glass half full and I love you for that. Thank you for protecting your heart as best as you could. Thank you for allowing GOD to be the source of your strength. Thank you for allowing GOD to use you during a time where it was easy to be peer pressured into other things. Thank you for being a role model to others around you. Thank you for being the example. You are my hero and I am so proud of the woman you are today, because you fought so hard to become her, and baby, your hard work has paid off!! Keep Shining Your Light Unapologetically! #Salute
